Resumo

Knowledge management focuses on how the organizations, in a changing environment, modify its knowledge base and ensure continuous innovation of their projects. The reasons to develop this process in organizations and the advantages of its use are diverse; from user satisfaction, increased performance, benefits and organizational competitiveness to a higher overall efficiency of the organization. Educational institutions as organizations continuously learn, are optimal settings management, to promote social change and improvement orientation. These organizations have special influence on the development of students and their academic performance. Knowing how to influence the processes developed in schools at the institutional level as well as in the academic achievement of all students, and therefore their future academic success, in the completion of compulsory secondary education is extremely important. Studies carried out in educational organizations show that suitable management of knowledge in the schools has positive effects on academic performance of students in their skills and school life. Therefore, in the arduous task of schools to achieve educational success of all, it is necessary that they are aware of the possibilities to develop an appropriate knowledge management can make at all levels, from the results and competitive benefits of school to the performance and satisfaction of its main users; the students.
