Abstract
Applied Acoustics Laboratory of the University of León has elaborated the 1st phase of the strategic noise map of the city, as a preview of the future complete map of León. This phase is related to the study of an area of León, specifically the Downtown with a total population of, approximately, 11,000 inhabitants. The present paper discusses the basic methodology of the study, focusing on the most important determining factors such as traffic density and population distribution, as well as the results obtained and the approach to be used for the realization of the next global map phase.
