Abstract
The actual state of development of Authority Control in repositories in Spanish universities is analysed. The work is based on the responses of the managers of these digital collections, along with various proposed criteria. We discuss the need of establishing effective policies about the management of Authority in a cooperative manner that allow the development of a corpus of Authority Records that facilitate the processes of cataloguing, metadata creation and information retrieval in systems settled in the syntactic and semantic interoperability where the manual intervention is minimal.
