Abstract

The aim of all doctoral theses is to demonstrate the skills and ability of the candidate to the academic degree of doctor to realize an investigation. In this case, we want to know the "Impact of Intercultural Bilingual Education Program in Schools Students Native Peoples in the Metropolitan Region Chile" identifying variables and factors that favor or may favor the success of the program. The thesis is divided into five chapters: i. Problem formulation ii. Theoretical framework iii. Methodological framework iv. Results and Discussion v. Conclusions and discussion of findings vi. Recommendations and proposals The research is divided into two stages: Step 1: Work with students in eighth grade year (which is the last year of basic education) Step 2: Working with the same students but already in second half year (corresponding to the second year of secondary education). Research in the first stage involves indigenous students, teachers responsible for the education of students involved and the parents and guardians of the students themselves. All participants had to answer questionnaires designed to shut effects, responses are analyzed according to the following categories: a) Presentation of the contents of teaching in school. b) Conception on teacher education in the intercultural context. c) Possibilities of intercultural education in the Indian context d) The role of the school in the urban Indian community For the second stage questionnaires closed and open questionnaires were used and worked with focus groups of indigenous students of the second half year. Finally, the bottom line is the result of the comparison of the results of both stages evaluating the impact of intercultural bilingual education program
