Zusammenfassung

Acute effect of a whole-body vibration session on strength in young throwers. The main purpose of the current study was to determine the acute effect of a whole body vibration (WBV) session on explosive strength and maximal isometric force in young throwers. 22 throwers participated in the study (16.1±3.5 years). Each thrower carried out 6 WBV sessions. Each session consisted in an assessment of a type of force, by means that a counter movement jump jump (CMJ) and a drop jump from 40 cm (DJ) or a maximal isometric test, prior to the start of the WBV and after that. Paired Samples t-test was carried out to determine the acute effect. T-test revealed that there was a positive acute effect of the WBV not only on explosive strength (p<0.05), but also on maximal isometric force (p<0.05). Therefore it could be concluded that WBV is a useful tool to achieve acute improvements in strength.
