Abstract

In the doctoral thesis, an Inspection Feature (InspF) for part geometrical and dimensional inspection process planning at a supervisory level that fosters an integrated and collaborative product-process-resource development process is proposed. The InspF is established with an approach to plan specification based on modelling and reasoning about assembly chains and on a feature meta-model that establishes a common structure and semantics, allowing integration, consistency and compatibility with other domains. The proposal includes an InspF library and an inspection resource classification, as well as a chart-based methodology to support reasoning during solution search and validation. The InspF includes the geometry with defects, essential for specification exercises, being compatible with both, the Geospelling language and the traditional GD&T based on tolerance zone.
