Resumo
One of the most outstanding aspects of the intense Spanish philological activity of the 17 century is the description of the Spanish language with didactic or normative aims. Even though there are editions of the most representative texts, many others sleep in oblivion. Besides this, we lack an overall view of their relationships, according to which we can locate them within the coordinates of the linguistic research of the time, and thanks to which a proper value can be given to their dependences of the preceding grammatical tradition, as well as to their own original contributions to the later developments of grammatical theory. This is the main target of our study of the Spanish treatises Publisher in the 17 century. We can distinguish two kinds of writings in the corpus we study: handbooks for the teaching of Spanish to the foreigners published in different European countries and grammars published in Spain (Jimenez Paton, Bonet, Correas y Villar). Out of all topics covered in those treatises, we analize, firstly, the concept of grammar they support, the targets they aim at, their contents and the way in which they are expounded and ordered. Secondly, their study of the parts of speech and their accidents, the aspect of grammar to which they pay more attention.
