This research, entitled "The Management of Reverse Logistics in the Portuguese Companies" presents its nuclear issue in the reverse logistics process, which has been the subject of several studies over the years. From the perspective of companies and other organizations that become active acceptance of discarding or recovery, reverse logistics comes for economic, legal and social reasons. Was drawn up, as well, a survey using descriptive research methods empirically based, to see what the reasons for the implementation of reverse logistics practices in Portuguese companies and that current mechanisms influencing these activities, such as economic, social and legislative factors, through an online and case studies questionnaire using for this purpose the database SCIE the National Statistics Institute. From the results, it is concluded that the relevance given by the companies to economic, social and legal reasons for implementing reverse logistics processes are significantly different. Companies attach more importance to environmental concerns than to economic motives, motivated by the need of customer satisfaction practices that require companies environmentally friendly. The study is divided into six chapters. In the first chapter the research objectives set out, in the second and third explores the state of the art logistics and the case studies, in the forth the methodology of research, the fifth presents the empirical case and draws up the statistical analysis and interpretation of results. Finally, it presents the main findings, limitations and recommendations for future studies.
