Abstract
In today's dynamic business environment, innovations and their degree of novelty are of significant relevance for organizations as a source of competitive advantage. An interesting strategy for their development is entrepreneurship, conceptualized as the process by which opportunities are identified and exploited. When this process occurs within an organization, it is termed intrapreneurship. However, focusing solely on the identification and exploitation of opportunities confines us to an operational level of the phenomenon. To fully understand it, it is crucial to complement its study with a strategic level, known as corporate entrepreneurship.Given the current lack of foundational theory, we propose to study entrepreneurship from the perspective of Resource-Based Theory, precisely, its extension of dynamic capabilities. This approach allows us to differentiate between operational capabilities and higher-order or dynamic capabilities. The former is ascribed to the operational level of entrepreneurship, encompassing the identification and exploitation of opportunities. The latter is associated with a strategic level and aligns with the original dimensions of the entrepreneurial orientation concept: proactivity and risk-taking.
